Hello, Jeff Fisher with Local Child Care Marketing. Child Care Website—What Makes a Great Website. I'm often asked this question and so tonight I want to do a quick review of what makes a great website.
First of all, we look at this simple website and what we need to understand is the very most important thing, as far as I am concerned is the phone number in the upper right hand corner. People come on, they read very much like they read a book. So they're looking here what's up here, it needs be attractive, but yet not distracting. So you've got to find simple clean lines to make a great website.
Here you want to discuss your top three benefits, what makes you unique, there's a variety of things it is called. And then you want to provide a place for them to learn about your program as if they're already there to learn. Now you've got a little video here, this one we call the "Professor Video" professor on puppet. He's basically gonna say these words over again and invite them to come in for a tour. So that's what we call the feature box.
Then simply come across the nav bar, because their eyes travelling this way. The home page, events and updates page which is also a blog, about us, the program so you want to list your programs and review what they are. And each page needs to have about three hundred and fifty words on it and a couple of images to really stand out.
Gather some parent testimonials and get those put up on the page. Put up a contact form and then the eyes are gonna follow down on this side. So one of the things that you want to do is you want to make sure you have something to give away. In this case, we're giving away the ten factors to consider when choosing a childcare. So parents can hop in here, and they can get your ten factors or your twenty factors whatever the number is, to choosing a childcare center.
We always like to put building image out there. It reduces stress, on the part of especially new parents that are new to town and not familiar with what's going on. And then this also we have the driving directions down here. We think that's important. In a single click, they've got access to Google Map. That's one thing that Google likes is you insert the map into your website.
I've expanded this one a little bit, so that you can see the bottom half of the website. So again, events and updates. You're gonna want for SEO purposes, you're gonna want these different names to match things that you're going to answer. Childcare, baby care, early childhood education. So when these get clicked on, they go to topics on this subject matter.
You want to put in your images. You got to know there's something hidden behind there, there's a thing called an alt tag. Make sure that you have that in there.
The second most important thing in a website is this caption. So make sure it makes sense and it's engaging.
And then, in our particular websites, we put an email login here, so if your team is using company email that can simply go here, click on it and login. Why do we do that? Why do we put it there and why do we recommend that you leave them for some to go there? Because that reminds them that you have a website and they can talk about it.
Next we have disclosures. There are several legal disclosures to meet Federal Trade Commission compliance issues and Google compliance issues. So we recommend that.
The next thing over is the site map. And then the name of your business or a keyword for us that we're trying to rank for is marketing company. Again, contact us, and then updates simplified.
What makes us unique is our system is set up so that a single click here allows the owner of the new website to go one page and make all their changes. In the next video, I'll review exactly how that's done.
So that's the basics of a website. And what I think makes a great website, the main thing is, make sure its a clean, simple layout, easy to read. You can have lots of loud colors and everything and be really fancy. But at the end of the day, remember the person that is arriving here is looking for information. You have about seven seconds either engage them or they're moving on. So don't waste your seven seconds on things that are distracting.
